The Spring Festival in the Fort Worth Japanese Gardens is a great opportunity to share what we know of Japanese culture to the general public. And everyone who volunteers has a great time. Click the button below to be part of the action!

Membership Time

Membership in the Fort Worth Japanese Society is paid in January of each year. You can still sign up at anytime of the year by filling out the form and pay online with the button below or print the form from your society newsletter. Please fill out all information to make sure our records are up to date and mail your check as soon as you can, or bring your check to the the next luncheon.

Our History

Since its founding in 1985 the FWJS has a diverse membership of more than 300 members, including Japanese ex-patriots, Japanese-Americans, and Americans who are interested in Japan.

 
 

In 1985, the City of Fort Worth passed a mission to introduce its citizens to the culture and habits of countries around the world. They decided to begin with Japan by working with the City of Dallas in the Sun and Star Festival. Fort Worth Mayor Bob Bolen asked Elaine Yamagata if she would work with a special committee that collaborated with local cultural groups, companies, and schools to plan an event introducing Japanese culture.

 
 

FWJS Programs

The Society maintains a close relationship with and acts as a liaison with the Japanese Consulate for the benefit of our members. We are continually on the lookout for projects which will improve Japanese-American relations.

North Texas Giving Day

September is officially NTX Giving Day season but you can still donate at any time. Last year, the generosity of our community helped raise a record breaking $66 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

Please go to the link below to donate to the Fort Worth Japanese Society – and have your donation go further with the additional sums that are added from the group that administers NTGD.

Other Activities

It's not unusual to find one of our members at city hall interpreting for visiting Japanese dignitaries.
